Johanna’s Special Awards 2008!
Since I’m such a lazy blogger (is that the word?) nowadays I at least wanted to give an update on 2008 which was not an easy year… I can only hope for better for 2009! But what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger…
Best book
Henning Mankell’s Italian Shoes. Excellent story that had to be read all at once. Otherwise I have developed a bad habit of having too many unfinished books by my bedside… I still love to buy books where ever I go!
Best song
Kallioniemi by Happoradio.
Best album
This is easy: Kaunis minä by Happoradio. Simply the best Finnish album since the 80’s. Second place goes to Herra Ylppö and Sata vuotta. Maija Vilkkumaa and Jippu will follow with Superpallo and Kuka teki minusta tän naisen. I’m into Suomi-rock again!
Best radio
Lately I’ve found myself listening to Suomipop a lot.
Best film
This year I even managed to see some on the big screen. Of those I would vote for Vicky Christina Barcelona by Woody Allen. His previous film, Match Point which I saw on DVD, was also excellent.
Best TV show
Amazing Race and Brothers & Sisters ( I hope it would continue). I watch so little television nowadays…
Best live show
Definitely The Nutcracker that we saw in Teatro dell’Opera in Rome on Christmas Eve. To see Carla Fracci perform was great…

My godmother Pico who passed away some days ago. But I’m very grateful that I got to spend time with her before it happened. R.I.P.

Dinners in San Diego, Lisbon and Rome (generally outside of Finland…)

Fernet Branca- always! Pisco sour at Nuevo Latino. Margaritas at San Diego!

My bluetooth-earplug. I do not know how I managed so long without one! Now I can talk with my both hands
